Hosta Teachers Pride forms a medium sized mound, of 12"-15" in height with a spread of up to 26" at maturity. It is a sport of 'Halcyon', that adds white to the centre of the heart-shaped leaf in spring. Leaves emerge with bright white centers surrounded by a blue margin. There are also lighter green streaks between the two. Leaf centre slowly turns green as the season progresses acting like a smaller 'Guardian Angel', another favourite because of its colours. The changes in colours of the leaf during the season offer season long appeal. This is already a favourite of mine. Lavender flowers on 24" long scapes in summer. Can hold up to the sun fairly well, and thick leaves make this variety pretty slug resistant.
