Hosta Zounds, renowned as the Queen of Yellow cultivars, forms an impressive mound reaching 70cm-80cm in height with a width of up to 100cm at full maturity. This cultivar is distinguished by its chartreuse leaves, which mature to a striking gold. It typically grows in a dense formation, showcasing satiny, rounded, thick, puckered, and heavily textured leaves with a metallic chartreuse-gold sheen. The leaves exhibit pointed tips, slightly rippled margins, and cordate bases. The bright gold foliage is notably thick and deeply cupped, with strongly veined undersides. In July, funnel-shaped, nearly white flowers bloom, lasting into August, atop leafy chartreuse scapes that rise to 90cm tall. Though Hosta Zounds is slow to reach maturity, it is well worth the wait. It tolerates full sun and requires sunlight to maintain its vibrant colouration. Additionally, the thick and corrugated leaves contribute to its resistance against slugs.
