Hosta Toy Soldier forms a compact mound approximately 30cm-38cm in height, with a spread of up to 90cm at maturity. Its heart-shaped leaves range from blue green to green, bordered by a chartreuse margin that transitions to creamy yellow. Towards the end of the season, a thin cream line emerges between the centre and the margin, providing an appealing accent. This variety is a sport of Hosta Blue Cadet, sharing its parent’s robust growth rate and enhancing variegation throughout the season. In June and July, dense clusters of lavender flowers with purple stripes appear on 80cm tall scapes. The plant has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
