Hosta Red Salamander will form a small loose mound of about 9"- 13" in height, with a spread of up to 20", at maturity. The ovate green leaves are mounted on long petioles. Petioles are red at the base and red spotted up the stem. Leaves are dark green & glossy. It looks lovely if presented in a nice container especially when in flower. Lavender flowers are presented on long green 20" tall scapes, holding the blooms well above the foliage. The plant is sun tolerant but sadly not slug resistant. A fairly quick grower and therefore has the abiliy to be divided every 3 or 5 years, to increase stock.
