The Hosta Purple Verticulated Elf forms a small mound ranging from 20cm to 25cm in height, with a spread of up to 50cm at maturity. This variety features intensely blue leaves that are slightly cupped and wavy. It has been extensively used in breeding programs to pass on its vibrant blue coloration and prolific flowering habit. The Hosta Purple Verticulated Elf is a frequent highlight at Hosta auctions, often commanding high bids due to its rarity. This cultivar is named for its verticillate (whorled) flowering habit. In summer, it produces pale lavender flowers on 36cm scapes, creating an impressive display. The plant is resistant to slugs and tolerant of sun exposure.
