Hosta Purple Heart forms a medium-sized mound, reaching a height of 45cm-55cm and a spread of up to 60cm at maturity. This vigorous, clump-forming Hosta features deep maroon stems supporting broadly lance-shaped to ovate, mid-green leaves that are maroon at the base. It is noted for having one of the most neat and uniform growth habits among Hostas. The short petioles are nearly black in colour. During the summer, sturdy maroon scapes produce racemes of bell-shaped purple flowers on 75cm tall scapes. This variety exhibits good slug resistance and can tolerate some sunlight. It is a highly popular choice among collectors and visitors alike.
