Hosta Hudson Bay forms an impressive large mound, reaching a height of approximately 50cm-60cm and spreading up to 90cm at maturity. This variety is an enhanced version of the visually appealing but challenging Hosta Eskimo Pie. It features wide blue margins that encircle a creamy white centre, addressing a specific requirement within the Hosta genus. While there are a few white-centred blue varieties, this one stands out as the largest to date. It is a vigorous grower, producing a substantial open clump topped with near-white flowers on 90cm scapes during midsummer. This variety is notable for its robust leaves, which offer excellent protection against slugs and snails, and it also demonstrates relatively good sun tolerance. Hosta Hudson Bay is a valuable addition to any collection and is highly favoured for its striking appearance and resilience.
