Hosta Great Expectations forms a medium mound reaching a height of 45cm-50cm, with a spread of up to 100cm at maturity. This variety, a sport of Hosta sieboldiana Elegans, is recognized as one of the most visually striking Hostas available today. Although it grows at a slow pace, it eventually achieves a medium to large size. It features a stunning cream centre that emerges gold in early spring, surrounded by a wide blue-green edge, making it a vibrant addition to any garden. For optimal growth, Hosta Great Expectations requires morning sun or very open shade. It boasts extremely wide, irregular margins of blue green that envelop a yellow-cream centre. This plant is particularly prized when mature and requires good light conditions. Despite its slow development, it is well worth the wait. The clump is adorned with near-white flowers on scapes of 75cm in early summer. Additionally, this Hosta is both sun-tolerant and slug-resistant when maintained in healthy condition.
