Hosta Golden Empress will form a small to medium mound, reaching approximately 25cm-30cm in height with a spread of up to 50cm at maturity. It features heart-shaped, gold, ribbed leaves with slightly wavy edges, creating a symmetrical, dense mound of yellow foliage. Lavender blooms appear on 60cm scapes above the mound from July to August. This hybrid, developed by Bob Kuk, is a fast-growing plant that serves well as edging, thanks to its heart-shaped golden leaves. Although it is one of the later varieties to emerge in spring, its bright yellow foliage transitions to chartreuse by summer. It bears a close resemblance to Hosta Birchwood Parky's Gold and Hosta Granary Gold.
