Hosta Chris' Tropical Sundown will form a medium mound of 16"-20" in height with a spread of up to 40" at maturity. It has long, narrow, slightly ruffled, yellow leaves with a saturation of red at the base of each leaf. The slightly rippled leaves green up a little but are still chartreuse. It's the dark red petioles that hold the foliage in an upright form that really add a dramatic contrast. With the colours of a sunset in a tropical paradise, this introduction from Christina Brinkmann is a thing of beauty. Hosta 'Chris' Tropical Sundown' packs a lot of colour into a compact plant. Lavender flowers appear late summer on red scapes of up to 30" tall. Not slug resistant but will tolerate a little light sun.
