Hosta Cherry Berry forms a compact mound, reaching 25cm-30cm in height with a spread of up to 70cm at maturity. The plant features elongated, slender leaves with a dark green margin that transitions into a golden yellow centre, which eventually becomes white in the summer. A lighter green streak is visible where the margin and centre colours overlap. The leaves are borne on slightly rosy petioles. In mid to late summer, purplish-blue, flared flowers emerge on 75cm clear red scapes, creating an eye-catching and colourful display. This variety is named for its seed pods that turn bright red and persist through to autumn. It requires some direct sunlight to enhance its reddish pigment, making it a visually striking plant.
