Hosta Blue Shadows will form a medium mound with a height ranging from 14 to 18 inches and a spread up to 42 inches at maturity. This Hosta cultivar is clump-forming, creating a compact mound of broad, ovate, corrugated green leaves featuring blue margins and some blue streaking through the leaf. The mature leaves are cupped and exhibit significant corrugation, providing good resistance to slugs. Initially small, this Hosta can be a slow-growing to begin with, requiring a well-chosen location with fertile soil and adequate moisture for optimal growth. However, it is a highly rewarding plant when properly situated. Exposure to bright morning sun is also beneficial. In late June, racemes of bell-shaped, nearly white flowers bloom on tall, slender scapes that can reach up to 30 inches, continuing into July.
