Hosta August Moon forms a large, loose mound reaching 45cm-65cm in height with a spread of up to 110cm at maturity. The plant features large, yellow-green leaves that curl as they age. The leaf colour varies based on site and season, appearing light green early in the season and turning more yellow in sunnier locations. Hosta August Moon can tolerate significant sun exposure, even full sun for limited periods, and remains attractive throughout the season. It is a medium-rate grower with pale lavender flowers that turn white later in the season. These flowers bloom on 75cm scapes in June, adding brightness to shaded areas. This older cultivar continues to be very popular and grows well in pots.
