Hosta Albopicta will form a medium mound of open habit, of 18"-24" in height with a spread of up to 50" at maturity. Slender, heart-shaped, creamy-yellow leaves with dark green margins emerge in spring, but as the leaves develop they lose their variegations and become a little more green. These are topped in midsummer with spikes of funnel-shaped, mauve summer flowers on scapes of 40". Leaf colours are better with some sun, but with shade at midday. With protection from cold winds, it makes a great groundcover plant for a moist, well-drained border.
